Meet Patrick Abban Sarpong, a PhD student at Pennsylvania State University and a passionate hydro metallurgist originally from Ghana. With academic roots at the University of Mines and Technology in Ghana and a master’s journey through Europe via the Erasmus Mundus scholarship, Patrick shares how his desire to improve metal extraction technologies has fueled his global academic path.
In this video, Patrick explains how early exposure to metallurgical processing inspired him to contribute to sustainable mining practices, reduce metal scarcity, and support the global transition to clean energy—especially through electric vehicles.
